Shopping on Koh Samui

Shopping in Koh Samui is less about malls and more about vibrant open-air markets, night bazaars, and small boutiques with a tropical island character. The main retail strip runs through central Chaweng, with clothing shops, jewellery stalls, souvenir stores and Thai cosmetic brands clustered along the road. Bophut Walking Street on Friday evenings is one of the island's top night markets — a mix of street food, handmade jewellery and woven textiles by local artisans. Lamai offers its own more relaxed evening bazaar with an authentic local atmosphere. For bulk shopping or Thai pantry goods, Big C, Tesco Lotus and Makro serve the whole island. Top souvenirs: muslin fabrics, coconut products, aromatherapy oils and silver jewellery.
