Golf on Koh Samui: Santiburi Golf Course and Tips for Players
Golf on Koh Samui: Santiburi Samui Country Club — 18 holes in the jungle. Season, green fees, dress code and player tips.
Koh Samui is an unconventional but worthwhile golf destination. The island is home to one world-class course — Santiburi Samui Country Club — designed on a scenic mountain terrain surrounded by tropical jungle. Playing golf on Samui is as much about the tropical experience as the sport itself.
Santiburi Samui Country Club
The island's only full-length course, Santiburi Golf Course, is set in the mountainous centre of Samui and spans 18 holes. The layout takes full advantage of the natural terrain: elevation changes, steep drops and panoramic views across both coasts. The course is widely regarded as one of the best-maintained in Thailand.
The clubhouse includes locker rooms, showers, a restaurant and a pro shop. Club rental and buggy hire are available on site.
When to Play
The course operates year-round. Early morning tee times (from opening until 10:00) are most comfortable before the heat peaks. The dry season (November–April) offers ideal conditions; during the wet season some holes may temporarily close after heavy rain.
Dress Code and Etiquette
Standard golf etiquette applies: a polo shirt is required; jeans are not permitted. Silence on the course and respect for other players are expected. Personal golf carts are not allowed — hire from the club only.
Tips
Book tee times in advance during peak season (December–March). Bring high-SPF sunscreen and plenty of water — the tropical sun on an exposed fairway is intense. Wear appropriate golf footwear.
