Evening on Koh Samui is not only clubs and bars. The island offers diverse after-sunset activities: from spectacular Muay Thai shows to quiet market strolls and Thai massage sessions. Here is a broad list of options for different groups and tastes.

Night Markets

The three main evening markets — Laem Din (Chaweng), the Bophut Friday Night Market and Lamai market — open from 5–6 pm and run until 11 pm. A market is dinner, shopping and a stroll all in one. For families with children it is an ideal format: safe, interesting and affordable.

Muay Thai Shows

Traditional Thai boxing is one of the island's headline evening attractions. Arenas operate in Chaweng and Lamai, with bouts several times a week. The show begins with the ritual ram muay warm-up, runs through five to eight fights and lasts two and a half to three hours. Ticket prices: 1,000–1,500 baht. Spectacular, noisy and atmospheric.

Thai Massage

An evening massage is the most popular after-dinner activity on the island. An hour of Thai massage: 300–500 baht at street salons, 600–1,200 baht at hotel spas. Along the main streets of Chaweng and Lamai, massage shops stay open until midnight and later. A special recommendation: beach massage by lamplight during high season (November–February).

Cinema and Entertainment Centres

Central Samui (the shopping mall in Chaweng) operates until 10 pm and includes a cinema, bowling, arcades and restaurants. It is a universal venue for an evening when the weather turns or air conditioning is welcome. Works well for families with children of any age.

Fire Show on the Beach

Chaweng beach on Fridays and Saturdays becomes the backdrop for spontaneous fire shows. Jugglers and fire dancers perform directly on the sand; an audience gathers organically. Admission is free but a tip in the hat is customary (100–200 baht). Start time: after 9 pm.

Evening Boat Trips

Several operators offer evening boat or catamaran trips from 6 to 9 pm — sunset on the water, sometimes fishing, occasionally live music. Group tours from 800 baht per person; small-group charter from 2,500 baht.
