Taling Ngam — the west coast with sunsets. Several restaurants right at the water, views of the Ang Thong archipelago. Less choice than Bophut, but the sunset experience is irreplaceable. Arrive 30–40 minutes before sunset — best light at 6–7 pm.

Lipa Noi — a quiet bay on the west coast. A few waterfront restaurants serving grilled seafood. Minimal tourists.

Mae Nam — several restaurants directly on the shore. Calm atmosphere, Thai food and seafood. The beach is long and empty in the evening — pair with a walk.

Lamai — southern shore with views of the Hin Ta Hin Yai rocks. A few waterfront venues with good views and a wider selection of cuisines.

What to order

  • Grilled seafood — lobster, tiger prawns, scallops. Freshness is guaranteed — choose from the ice display, not frozen.
  • Tom yum with seafood — the sour-spicy soup that defines Thai cuisine. In a good restaurant, a dish you remember.
  • Thai fish ceviche (plaa kao manao) — raw fish in lime juice with garlic and chilli. A light, refreshing starter.
  • Massaman curry — rich, full-flavoured, less spicy than other Thai curries. Good for those who prefer milder heat.

Budget

  • Simple beach restaurant: ฿600–1,200 for two (seafood + rice + drinks).
  • Mid-range: ฿1,500–3,000 for two (langoustine or tiger prawns, sides, beer or wine).
  • Good view restaurant: ฿3,000–5,000 for two (lobster or full seafood table, bottle of wine).

Booking tips

  • For the best table (waterside, sunset-facing) — call or message at least a day ahead. The best spots go fast in high season.
  • Ask specifically where the table is — sometimes a "waterfront restaurant" has premium view seats that cost extra. Ask directly.
  • Special occasion décor (candles, petals) — many restaurants arrange this on request for a small surcharge. Mention anniversary or birthday when booking.
