One-Day Dives at the Sail Rock Dive Site (from a Dive Boat, Departure from Koh Samui) Diving

An offer for experienced (certified) divers.

From 3 500 THB.

Description

We invite you on an exciting one-day trip to one of the best dive sites of the Gulf of Thailand! On the way to the dive site you will learn about the peculiarities of the local dive sites and the flora and fauna of the South China Sea's Gulf of Thailand. During the trip you can also widen your circle of acquaintances, meeting divers from around the world. Meanwhile, a Russian-speaking guide will always be nearby to answer all your questions and make your trip unforgettable. This offer is intended for already certified, experienced divers.

Sail Rock (average depth 22 metres, maximum 34 metres) is one of the most beautiful sites in the Gulf of Thailand, rated by PADI as a 5-star diving location. A vertical rock surrounded by several smaller underwater pinnacles leaves an unforgettable impression! To the north, at a depth of 16 m, you can admire a most beautiful specimen of Neptune's creation — tube sponges. In this part of the rock you can also encounter colonies of orange sponges. Its sheer walls are densely covered with oysters and molluscs. On the south-eastern slope of the rock, a natural chimney astonishes the imagination. Light penetrating these passages through the water creates a stunning view. Imagine: you enter a wide passage at a depth of 18 m and, as if in the crater of an extinct volcano, ascend to the exit at 10 metres. Even higher, right at the chimney exit, lies a plateau long inhabited by a variety of underwater residents. Here, gardens of sea anemones are populated by pink "clowns" (anemonefish), and sinuous yellow moray eels tirelessly explore the rock crevices and fissures where cleaner wrasses and shrimps, together with small crabs, hurry to hide in their shelters.
Sail Rock is located 45 kilometres from Koh Samui, roughly halfway between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. It is one of the deepest sites of the Samui archipelago. Underwater currents are common during full moons. Sail Rock lies practically in the open sea and the currents carrying plankton are stronger, so besides other marine life, mantas, dolphins, large groupers, leopard sharks and even huge whale sharks inhabit these waters. Giant barracudas seek their food here, reef sharks, travelly-fish and batfish frequently "drop by".

Our Russian-speaking guide-instructor will stay by your side throughout the programme, monitoring your well-being and the operation of the diving equipment.
