The property is a two-bedroom house (the unit) in the development on a quiet Thai side street in the Lamai area, set back from the island's ring road. Far from the river, the empty lots, and the rubbish dumps — an excellent spot for a quiet holiday away from the bustle of Lamai village. The development consists of five brightly coloured houses with one or two bedrooms: orange and are two-bedroom; pink, blue, and yellow are one-bedroom. The lot is fenced off from the street by a gate with a receptionist's hut. The staff's English is shaky but they do their job properly. In the centre of the compound is a small swimming pool; mature trees have been preserved around the houses. Four sun loungers; a concrete yard (which sounds bad but actually reduces the chance of stepping on something alive and biting). Inside, the houses are decorated with taste: Thais usually save on interiors, but not here. All necessary furniture and appliances, a safe, built-in wardrobes, A/C in every bedroom, a ceiling fan in the living room, a full kitchen unit, a widescreen TV, decorative pieces, plastic windows, a glass sliding entrance door, a large bathroom mirror, and tiles matched by a designer rather than "whatever was there". A beautiful, cosy house where you will not have to think about what to buy. The beach is somewhat far — but if you choose a house beyond the ring road, closer to the centre of the island, scooter rental is part of the deal anyway.
