Vehicle Rental on Koh Samui
Koh Samui rewards those who explore it on their own wheels — the ring road circles the entire island in about an hour, while side roads wind to hidden beaches and hilltop viewpoints. Motorbikes are the most popular rental choice: compact, easy to park right on the beach and nimble enough to dodge high-season traffic in Chaweng. Before riding off, inspect the tyre tread, brakes and lights carefully — quality varies considerably between rental shops. For those who prefer a car, small crossovers and hatchbacks handle both the coastal highway and the mountain passes through the interior. Note that an international driving permit with category A, or a Thai licence, is required for motorbike rental in Thailand. Helmets are compulsory by law.
