Koh Samui is one of the best launch pads for diving in the Gulf of Thailand. Warm water year-round (27–30°C), good visibility, and a wide range of sites for every skill level — from shallow training reefs to deep walls and seamounts. The main magnet for advanced divers is Koh Tao, 70 km from Samui: the legendary Sail Rock, hammerhead sharks in season, and a string of Ang Thong National Marine Park sites. On Samui itself you'll find PADI and NDL certification courses, day trips to the reefs at Koh Tan and Koh Madsum, and night dives with experienced guides. It's easy to combine a beach holiday with regular diving — sites are close and daily departures run throughout the season.
